What are the guidelines for submitting a design?
In preparing your design for submission, keep the following criteria in mind:
- The size of your original file should be no larger than 12.6 in. (32 cm) wide and 15 in. (38 cm) high, and the resolution should be 300 dpi;
- Your design is limited to a maximum of 4 colors (not including the background).
You don’t have to send in your original file for us to put your design up for a vote: a preview image will suffice. Download our Submission Kit and use it to tailor your design. Please follow these guidelines in submitting your preview:
- The size should not exceed 500 ko,
- The file should be 800 x 800 pixels,
- The resolution should be set at 72 dpi,
- Save the file as a jpeg image.
Are there only so many colors I can use?
That’s right. We allow a maximum of 4 colors per design (excluding the color of the background / t-shirt). Download our Submission Kit to view available background colors.
What are hashtags? What are they used for?
When you submit one of your designs to be voted on, we will assign it a unique hashtag. By default, this will be your design’s title (without spaces or special characters). The hashtag lets visitors to the site easily locate your design and mention it in their social networks if, say, someone who bought your t-shirt takes a selfie with it on.
How can I submit my designs?
First off, you have to be registered and connected to the site in order to access the “Submit a Design” page (under the “Designs” tab). If you haven’t already, download the Submission Kit, found on the same page, and insert your design (instructions on how to do this can be found there as well).
Finally, fill in each field of the form before submitting your work, first making sure that it conforms to the guidelines, also available on this page.
What do you look for in a design?
We are particularly fond of anything that might be categorized as “pop” or “geek” culture: television series, movies, video games, manga, cartoons and animated series, comics and graphic novels.
But Wistitee is open to submissions of all kinds: even if your drawing is not in the least bit geeky, send it in. We’ll consider anything that looks good on a t-shirt.
Above all, we like originality. We think your ideas and the effort you put into creating your design should be rewarded. Every well-designed illustration should make it to our print shop!
If your design has already been printed on another site, perhaps you could adapt it to the World of Wistitee by adding something new, or by simply changing the color of the shirt. This would, in a way, give you an original version of your work to submit.
Does Wistitee reject certain designs?
We scrutinize each design before publishing it in our voting gallery. First, we want to be sure that the design follows the submission guidelines and does not infringe on any third-party rights. Next, we make sure that your design is in keeping with the spirit of our site: we do not accept vulgarity, designs in poor taste, or allusions to religion or pornography.
Furthermore, we ask that you conscientiously abide by all copyright laws, since we don’t want to be held responsible if you violate someone else’s rights. Please only submit work that you created yourself.
When can designs be viewed on the website?
We will publish your designs within 72 hours, depending on how many other designs we receive the day that you submit yours. This is so that we can check each illustration to ensure that it complies with our criteria since we cannot accept all submissions (see our reply to the previous question, on this very topic).
Can a design that has already been published and up for vote online be modified or taken down?
Yes, but we ask that you do this by getting in touch with us by using our contact form. Know that if you decide to delete one of your designs, you won’t be able to reinstate it and you will lose all the votes and comments received up to that point.
